WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Twister Sports hosts first ever Kids Camp Open House April 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. In 2020 Twisters kicked off their Kids Camp Summer Program as the result of several other community childcare programs closing for the summer. Throughout the summer, nearly 100 campers came through the program where they spent morning time with outdoor play, learning and educational opportunities, and of course – open gym time.
“We quickly made a pivot knowing the community was in serious need of childcare,” said Danielle Johnston, Twister Sports Owner. “Kids Camp is something we had wanted to do for a long time, and we had talked a lot about what that would look like and who would be able to teach the kids during the day.”
In May 2020, just a few short weeks after reopening, Twisters hired and trained several new Kids Camp coaches, put together a full 11-week lesson plan and opened registration for the program.
“Kids Camp was such a big hit, and we knew our coaches were going to miss the kids a lot at the end of the summer,” said Lexi Hunnicutt, Kids Camp Director, “so in July, we decided to add Kids Camp Before and After School program. It has been a great way to keep in contact with the kids throughout the school year. Watching them grow is so rewarding.”
The Open House scheduled for next week will feature a variety of programs hosted by Twisters to include Summer Camp, the Before and After School Program for the 2021-2022 school year, Collaboration Day Care and Twisters’ Summer Specialty Camps.
The Open House is open to the public. For more information on the programs at Twister Sports, you may visit https://twistersports.com or call 660-238-0577.
