Fun for the Whole Family!

General information:

• Summer Camp opens at 6 a.m.
• Children must be picked up by 6 p.m.
• Half-Day Campers will opt for mornings (6 a.m. to 12 p.m.) or afternoons (12 p.m. to 6 p.m.) This option will become available March 15 if spots are still available.
• Names must be marked on all personal items. Twisters is NOT responsible for lost, broken or stolen items.
• In an effort to better suit children during activities and playtime, we will be dividing campers into age groups. Siblings who would like to stay together would go with the younger of the two groups.
• Only school-age children are permitted for childcare (including those going into kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year).

Camp Fees:

• If paid in full, camp for a full-day camper is $1,315. The paid-in-full discount for a half-day camper is $865. (Pay-in-full covers care from the last day of school until the first day of school.)
• If paid week-to-week, a full-day camper is $125/wk, and a half-day camper is $90/wk.
• Discounts will not be given for missed days.
• If week-to-week, parents may select in advance which weeks they will participate. They will only be charged for those weeks.
• Automatic charges will occur at approximately 7 a.m. the Friday morning prior to the start of the week.
  • Example: If you are enrolled for the week of June 3-7, your weekly fee will be automatically charged to the card on file on the morning of May 31.
• Parents will be notified by noon if the card on file is unable to be charged. In order to reserve the child’s spot for the following week, payment will need to be completed by 5 p.m. the Friday prior to the start of the week.
• Payments must be up to date in order for a child to participate.
• For payments made in full, cash or charge is accepted.
• For weekly payments, cash or card on file is accepted. Cash must be paid by the close of business on Thursday so your card is not automatically charged.
• Because your child will hold a slot in our program, no refunds will be issued at any time.
• Refunds are not available for students who have paid for the summer in full.

Snacks and Meals:

• Breakfast will be included for any students who arrive by 7:30 a.m. Healthy snacks will be included in the afternoon. Snacks are also available for purchase at the front desk at designated times throughout the day. A menu is available on the board by the sign-in table.
• Lunch is served at noon. Students may bring their own lunches or opt for a bag lunch for $3. A bag lunch will include a sandwich, a fruit or vegetable, chips, and a drink.
• A snack will be provided by Twisters each day at 3:30 p.m. Campers may also bring their own snacks or put money on their accounts to purchase snacks at the front desk. Caffeinated beverages and candy are not permitted for purchase during Kids Camp hours. Healthy options will be available at the front desk.
• Parents may place restrictions on their child’s snack accounts by notifying our front desk or Kids Camp staff.
• Water will be available with all meals and throughout the day.
• Parents may add credit to their child’s lunch and snack account by notifying our Kids Camp staff.
• A t-shirt is included with all pay-in-full registrations. T-Shirts are required for field trips and may be purchased at the front desk for part-time campers.

Dress Code:

• Tennis shoes are recommended for daily activities. Sandals and flip-flops are discouraged but may be brought on outdoor water days. Parents will be notified in advance of outdoor water days.
• All clothing should be comfortable and weather-appropriate. Please remember air conditioning can get a little chilly first thing in the mornings.
• K-4th grade parents: Please send your child with a backup outfit on their first day to be left at Twisters throughout the summer. This outfit will be worn if they ever have an accident or get dirty. Outfits will be sent home with parents on the final day of Kids Camp. Clothing not picked up by Sept. 1 will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County.

Discipline:

• Appropriate behavior and language are expected at Twisters.
• Rules will be clearly stated by counselors. Our goal is to always use redirection and positive reinforcement. At times, time outs and quiet time may be required for children who need some additional space and calming.
• Students who demonstrate physical violence or blatantly vandalize property may be removed from the program.
• For minor situations, parents will be notified at the end of the day. If the problem persists or additional assistance is needed, a parent will be called during the day.

Release of Participants:

• All children must be signed in and out by a parent or authorized pick-up contact each day. A government-issued photo ID may be required if someone is picking up with whom our staff is not familiar.
• Only those designated to pick up a child are allowed to pick up.
• If someone else is picking up your child, we will ask that you complete an “Add a Contact” form in advance.

Medications:

• A child may not receive medication of any kind unless it is required by a doctor.
• Parents/guardians must place medicine in a Ziploc bag with the child’s name, dosage, and frequency. Medication must be provided in the original container with pharmacy/doctor instructions and labels.

Illness:

• Please inform the director immediately if your child develops any of the following symptoms:
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Redness of the eyes or itchy eyes
  • Sore throat or hoarse voice
  • Rash
• Campers with these symptoms will not be allowed to attend camp until they are 24 hours free of symptoms or have a doctor’s note.
• Additional hand-sanitizing measures and social distancing will be monitored and enforced throughout Summer of 2024.

Outdoor Information:

• Please send one bottle of spray sunscreen with your child on the first day or bring to welcome night. (SPF 50 or above)
  • We will provide liquid sunscreen for faces.
    • If your child has an allergy to certain sunscreens, please provide your own facial sunscreen.
  • The bottles will be shared with everyone. If your child has sensitive skin or requires a higher SPF, please attach a note and label the bottle with your child’s name.
• We will notify you in advance of outdoor water days. Please send the following with your child on these days:
  • Water clothing
  • Water shoes or shoes that may get wet
  • Towel
• All activities will take place at Twisters or within the surrounding community. Any activities that are off-property will require a permission slip. A few field trips will be taken throughout the summer and transportation will be provided by Twisters. These field trips will cost up to $6. For those choosing to not participate, alternative programming will be available at Twisters.

Camp Fees:

• Before-School Care is $35/week. After-school care is $50/week. Collaboration-day only care is $25/week. Those needing all of the above will pay a total of $70/week per child. Parents selecting “Combo Care” may add $10/week for a tumbling, ninja or gymnastics class provided that they are enrolled monthly. This is a $10 discount off the normal class price.
• Discounts will not be given for missed days due to illness or vacation.
• Care is not included for Federal Holidays or days that school is out. Additional care may be provided on those days through Twisters for an additional fee. Parents will not be charged for care over winter break or spring break when there are no school days within the week.
• A 14-day notice is required in order to cancel before/after school care.
• Automatic charges will occur at approximately 7 a.m. the Friday morning prior to the start of the next week.
  • Example: If you are enrolled for the week of Aug. 31st, your weekly fee will be automatically charged to the card on file the morning of Aug. 28th.

First off, if you’re new to the area, welcome! We are a veteran-owned gym and we realize you don’t always get to pick when you’re moving. As a result, we offer opportunities to join our teams throughout the year.

Athletes without experience: For those who are new to cheerleading, we want to welcome you to our wonderful sport! Our half-year novice program is perfect for athletes without previous experience who are wanting to start later in the season. Our half-year season runs November to March and includes one local competition. We highly recommend also taking a tumbling class throughout your half-year season if you want to cheer competitively on a full-year team the following season. You can register for a half-year program by using the link provided in the packet. You can obtain the packet by providing your information on this page.

Athletes with previous experience: Depending on your previous experience and current skills, it’s possible for us to add you to a current team. As you already know, scoring gets a little tricky as does travel, but some teams still have openings. To join an elite team mid-season athletes would need very strong tumbling and stunting skills. Openings are available on most elite teams for athletes who can max out the skill level. For those who cannot max the level, it might still be possible to join a lower level team or prep team this season. Please call the gym to set up an appointment with our all star director so you can look at options!

Alternatively, our pre-team and full team for competitive tumbling is able to take athletes throughout the year. This is a wonderful option for those who are looking to strengthen their skills and enjoy a competitive atmosphere until team placements. 

When are team placements? 

Our annual team placements take place in May each year with skills clinics in April leading up to the clinic. We strongly recommend tumbling classes while you’re waiting for placements to begin. All athletes make a team, but prep and elite teams require some tumbling skills, and these can be obtained through our regular tumbling classes!

Recreational cheerleading is an 8-week session with an in-house performance at the end. Novice cheerleading runs August-March and will compete locally in Sedalia in November and March.

During this fun camp, we’ll grow our imaginations and creativity through a Frozen-inspired dance, play games and do our very own Frozen craft to take home.

This camp will bring out your child’s most creative side through encouraged messy play! We will do fun creative movements that will prepare your child for kindergarten through independent and group-learning, allowing him or her to be social and make friends while having fun. We’ll do messy crafts, messy games and get our hair messy as we play games during open gym.

Ages: 2-6 years (A parent is required to stay during this time.)

Does your child love cheerleading, tumbling, and gymnastics, but maybe they can’t decide which they like the most? We’ve got the perfect solution: Cheernastics Camp! During this camp, the athletes will work on cheerleading jumps, motions, learn a short cheer routine, work on their tumbling, and work skills on the uneven bars, balance beam, and vault. With all that excitement, it’s hard to get bored! All participants will also get a special Summer 2020 Twisters Cheer bow! This clinic is geared toward beginner athletes.

Learn, expel energy and have fun all at the same time! Body movement has an amazing science behind it. During this camp, we’ll learn principles of science, technology, engineering and math – and how they relate to the body in motion! Our team of educators will use tumbling and ninja skills, crafts and games to combine a love for physical education and a love for STEM!

This Olympic-themed gymnastics camp will work skills on the uneven bars, balance beam, vault, and spring floor. Athletes will learn leaps and turns along with basic ballet skills used in floor routines. All skill levels are invited to participate. No experience is required.

During the Ultimate Dinosaur Experience, we’ll climb ropes and warped walls, run through obstacles and hurdle over boulders. We’ll also learn about dinosaurs during our games and through a fun craft.
